Media Releases

The Mesa County Coroner's Office realizes the important service provided by the local media outlets in informing the residents of Mesa County and beyond. We will endeavor to supply you with the information you need in a timely fashion.

In general, we will issue a Media Release only after the following items have been accomplished:

  • Positive Identification of the Decedent has been made,
  • Notification to Next of Kin and
  • The Postmortem Examination (Autopsy) and all other aspects of the investigation have been completed.

In the Media Release, the Coroner's Office will provide the decedent's name, sex and age along with the Cause and Manner of Death and the name of the Investigating Agency. We may include other useful information.

The Media Release will be submitted to all media outlets at the same time. We ask that you do not call the Coroner's Office asking for the decedent's name or cause and manner of death. If you have any follow-up questions as a result of any Media Release, we ask that you submit them to coroner@mesacounty.us so that we may provide the answer to all of you, if one is indicated.

From time to time, we may have special Media Releases, so please bookmark this page and watch for further announcements.
